Abstract
1,128,357. Valves. T. J. BRENNAN, and W. A. BAUMSTARK. 25 Jan., 1966, No. 3267/66. Heading F2V. A fill valve for a toilet tank comprises a baseplate 30 having a cover 24 to form a valve chamber 50. A diaphragm closure 52 controls flow between an inlet 22 and outlet 26 in the plate. Chamber 50 is supplied from the inlet through a passage 64, 66 with an adjustable restrictor 62. A dump valve 88 in the plate is opened by movement of a flushing lever 106 to empty the chamber and allow the valve to open. The outlet contains an anti-syphon device 112 having a flexible partition (128), Fig. 4 (not shown) with a central aperture (130) and above this a fixed partition (124) with apertures offset from the aperture (130). Flow to the outlet depresses the partition (128) to cover air holes (122) and in the event of return flow the air holes are uncovered to break the flow. A ball valve (not shown) controlling an outlet from the tank to the toilet is operated by the flushing handle in known manner.
