Abstract

1,128,224. Electrically heated socks. R. J. COSTANZO. 8 Sept., 1966 [13 Sept., 1965], No. 40227/66. Heading H5H. A sock 10 is heated by a circuit including a battery 15 mounted in a pocket 16 in the ankle band 11, a heater 12 mounted in a pocket 13 in the toe, conductors 22, 23, a thermostat (26, Fig. 2) and switching means. The heater 12 comprises a flat resistor strip (14, Figs. 2, 4) of Ni-Cr alloy, sandwiched between Al foil radiation strips (25, 25A) and secured thereto by electrically insulating adhesive coatings (25<SP>1</SP>). The foils (25, 25A) may also be insulated by anodizing. The battery 15 releasably snap fits in its holder 17. The conductors 22, 23 have a covering 24.
