Abstract
1,127,654. Reels. SOC. RHODIACETA. 17 May, 1966 [25 May, 1965], No. 21843/66. Heading B8M. [Also in Division B5] A tube on which shrinkable yarns or filaments are wound is made from a thermo-plastics material which can shrink uniformly under the influence of heat. The thermo -plastics material may be a polyester, polyamide or an acrylic polymer. The tube may be formed by extrusion, or from a sheet of thermo-plastic material which is stretched longitudinally and then wound to form a tube. The winding may be helical, Figs. 5 and 7 (not shown). The tube may also be formed of two or more superimposed layers. A method of stabilizing a shrinkable yarn or filament comprises winding the yarn or filament on a tube, as described above, and subjecting the assembly to a heat shrinking treatment. The heat shrinking treatment may be incorporated in a stoving, steaming, dyeing, scalding, degreasing or other liquid treatment or by heated plates or rolls. The tube is preferably made of the same material as the yarn or filament wound thereon.
