Abstract

1,127,291. Axial piston pumps. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 16, 1965 [Oct. 5, 1964] No. 40400/64. Heading F1A. In a rotating cylinder block cam plate pump for supplying sea water to a condenser chamber for the exhaust gases in a self-propelled underwater torpedo and withdrawing the sea water and condensate from the condenser chamber and discharging it, the sea water is pumped by the inner row of pistons 15 to the condenser chamber and discharged by the outer concentric row of pistons 16 to the sea through hollow drive shaft 12. A non- return pressure relief valve 23 is provided between the inlet and outlet to cylinders 14. The cylinders 14 and pistons 16 are designed to provide neglible clearance volume. The rubbing surfaces of the pump may be lined with resin-bonded fibre material.
