1,125,762. Cutting. by fusion. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. 11 June, 1965 [23 June 1964], No. 26012/64. Heading B3V. A metal cropping machine includes two metal cutting burners 28 and 30 mounted for movement along a boom in a direction transverse to that of a plate or billet 14 to be cut. The burners normally cut approximately half way through the workpiece from opposite sides, but are each able to be traversed along the beam a sufficient distance to cut through the entire workpiece should one of the burners become inoperative. Rods 36 and 40, connected to racks which are operated by electric motor driven pinions, serve to move the burners. The beam itself is vertically adjustable on a supporting pillar which is secured to a longitudinally movable base frame. The burners can be of the plasma torch or flame cutting type.
