Abstract
1,125,568. Packaging hypodermic needles; opening containers. S. & R. J. EVERETT & CO. Ltd. 10 May, 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 54628/65. Headings B8C, B8D and B8P. A container 4, enclosing a hypodermic needle, has an integral tab 12 connected to the container along a line of weakness, a member 15 being heat sealed to the whole of the container end and tab to close an opening 8 in the container end. To open the container, the tab is lifted and fractures along its line of weakness, tearing the member 15 along a line of indentation (16), Fig. 1 (not shown), and allowing the removal of the needle. The needle is sterilized by irradiation after sealing the container. The container is moulded from a plastics such as polystyrene.
