[Also in Division H1] A welding wire guide assembly comprises a flexible cable in which a protective guiding element 2 conveying the welding wire 1 is surrounded by gas supply means 4 and current supply means 3. The wire guiding element 2 is a single or double coil surrounded by a wound or plaited copper conductor 3 enclosed in a loose rubber or synthetic plastic sheath 4 conveying shielding gas, e.g. argon, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen or carbon dioxide. A tension relief element 5 in the form of a cable or steel wire is soldered at its ends to the conductor 3. A similar tension relief element 6 is spot welded at two or more points to the guiding element 2.
