Abstract

112,238. Mower, M. K. June 26, 1917 Bed &c. rests.-A support for a patient's limb during wound-dressing or other operations is adjustable in position along the frame of an ordinary bedstead or operating table and the actual limbsupporting member is universally adjustable. The appliance comprises a vertical pillar 8 attached to a base 1 adjustable along the frame member 2 of a bedstead and secured in position by means of the sliding hook 5 and nut 7. An extension 14, telescopically mounted on the pillar 8, is adjusted vertically by screw and nut mechanism operated by a handle 20 and is secured after vertical and angular adjustment by a camping-collar 15. The extension 14 carries a horizontal member 21 to which the trough-shaped or other support 23 is attached by means of telescopic sleeve 22 secured, after horizontal and angular adjustment, by a clamping collar 24. The sleeve 22 is formed with a lug 26, Fig. 4, engaging a flange 25 on the member 21 so as normally to prevent separation of the parts. An opening in the flange permits separation if the sleeve 22 and support 23 are turned upside down. The construction of the base 1 may be varied to suit any particular form of bedstead or table frame.
