Abstract

1,118,747. Self-wringing mops. S.A. BRUSH CO. Ltd. 27 July, 1965 [30 July, 1964], No. 32105/65. Heading A4F. Cleaning liquid is squeezed from a sponge mop by drawing upwardly a member 2 hingedly connected to two pressure plates 5 which carry the sponge 12, and to which are hingedly attached members 6 engaging a transversely extending frame 8 to which the mop handle 19 is secured, the members 6 being so arranged that the plates 5 move arcuately into substantially parallel positions, and the members 2, 5 and 6 being formed integrally of plastics material, the parts forming the hinges being of reduced cross-section. Slots in the members 6 engage lugs 9 on the frame 8. The member 2 has an upstanding web 3 for receiving the hooked end of an operating rod 25, by which the squeezing action is effected, and which extends along the handle 19 to an operating lever 27 (not shown).
