Abstract

1,114,986. Stoppers. RHEEM AUSTRALIA PTY. Ltd. 15 Aug., 1966 [1 Sept., 1965], No. 36465/66. Heading B8T. A resilient plastics &c. stopper (1), Fig. 2 (not shown), for a bunghole bush in a drum, has a base wall integral with a cylindrical side wall (2) externally threaded over its lower end (8) but thickened at its top end to form a radially extending bead (4, 5) having outwardly and inwardly directed surfaces, the former seating against the mouth of the bunghole bush (10), Fig. 4 (not shown). A groove (9) extends around the top face of the stopper (1), so that when it is screwed home in the bunghole bush (10) flexing of the bead (4, 5) is permitted. Accordingly the bead (4, 5) engages sealingly all the way round the bunghole bush (10). Two radially-directed strengthening ribs (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), are moulded inside the side wall (2), as are two lugs (6) for engagement by a tightening &c. spanner.
