Abstract

1,111,404. Injection moulding rivets. PLASCO Ltd. 3 Sept., 1966, No. 39467/66. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] In a method of making blind rivets of plastics material, a stud part 16 is injection moulded at a first moulding station 13 and a tubular body part 25 is injection moulded directly on to the stud part 16 at a second moulding station 14. To prevent fusion between the two parts the stud 16 may be moulded from material, e.g. Nylon having a higher melting point than the material of the part 25. The stud part is moved from one moulding station to the other and then to a trimming station 15 by gate portions 22, 31 moulded around a transfer rod 23. The stud part 16 comprises a head 18, a tapered shank 17, a shoulder portion 20, and a cylindrical portion 19 having circumferentially spaced ribs 21. The body part 25 comprises a head 26, a tubular portion and anchor wings 29.
