An extendable roof comprises a part 4 hinged to front and rear panels 3, 5, which are themselves hinged to the vehicle roof so that the part 4 may be swung forwardly to overlie the roof when the side panels 6 also hinged to the roof are folded inwardly. Spring-urged arm 17 slidably'engaging the end wall assists in erecting the roof and maintains it in position in co-operation with the tie 22.
