Abstract

1,106,746. Supply circuits for electro-magnets; capacitor arrangements. FRANZ MORAT G.m.b.H. 30 June, 1965 [1 July, 1964], No. 27711/65. Heading H2H. In the circuit arrangement shown for providing high speed energization and increased frequency of actuation of an electro-magnet M, the former condition is provided by a charged condenser C whose voltage assists the operating voltage U B1 when switch S is closed to energize the operating coil AW, subsequent current flow after the condenser is discharged being through a diode D 1 . When switch S is opened the condenser C is recharged, in readiness for another electro-magnet operation, by the voltage pulse induced in an auxiliary coil HW linked with the magnetic field produced by the coil AW. The negative side of condenser C may be connected to a tapping on the winding HW, Fig. 4 (not shown). In another modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the energization time is further reduced by raising the operating voltage and interposing a resistance between the coil AW and the switch S. This modification may be further altered by replacing the switch S by a transistor and permanently connecting the condenser C to a charging voltage which prevents discharge during idle periods prior to operation. The circuit of the invention may be used for electro-magnets forming part of a knitting machine of the type described in Specification 1,009,624. Application to impulse operated step-motors is also envisaged.
