Abstract

1,104,685. Suspended ceilings. TENTEST CO. Ltd. 15, July, 1965 [17, July, 1964], No. 29256,64. Heading E1W. In a suspended ceiling grid framework, saddle-shaped jointing members 24 which embrace the main section members 2, have oppositely extending planar side portions 28 which slidably engage within inverted channel shaped webs of the noggins 16. An interference fit between the portions 28 and the noggins may be provided by means of pips on the portions 28. - Tabs 30, 32 on the saddle shaped central portion may be bent into positions to prevent vertical displacement of, the jointing member 24 from the section member 2, and the noggins 16 from the jointing member. An enlarged head 4 on the main section member 2 may co-operate with clips 72 which serve to retain panels 70 upon flanges of the members 2. Several alternative forms of clips are described and illustrated. The flanges of the members 2 and noggins 16 have downturned edges 10 adapted to receive the edges of a cover strip 62, Fig. 2 (not shown). At the periphery of the ceiling, the members 2 may be attached to the wall by a Z-form section member 88, Fig. 10 (not shown) or the member 2 may be replaced by a specially modified section member Fig. 2 (not shown), and in each case noggins are attached thereto by jointing members having a planar portion similar to 28 on one side only. In a modification the panels may be edge grooved to engage, the flanges of the members 2 and noggins 16.
