Abstract

1,104,472. Reinforcing edges of non-metallic sheet material. HIBA-BESCHAFFUNGSRING G.m.b.H. 2 April, 1965 [3 Aug., 1964], No. 13985/65. Heading B5K. [Also in Division E1] A building panel of cast material 2 (e.g. foam or other plastics, concrete, chip or fibre board) has its edges reinforced with strip material 3 of wood, plastics, or plastics and wood floor mixtures, the strips 3 being formed with depressions and/or apertures of various forms, Figs. 3-8 (not shown), to key the cast material 2. Transverse reinforcements 7 may be provided and may be of double width to facilitate division of the panel. Similarly, longitudinal double-width reinforcement (not shown) may be provided. The edge strip reinforcement may be embedded in the panel flush with its surface, or project from the surface as a flange. The apertures in the edging strip may provide transverse weak spots facilitating division of the strip during manufacture.
