[Also in Division B5] Woodworking, metalworking or like equipment comprises a base 1 having upstanding means 2 for detachably supporting a powerdriven tool, such as an electric drill 8, and means 18 associated with the base for locating the base in a pre-arranged position on or over a workpiece, such as a plank of wood 19 and/or for guiding the base along a pre-arranged path while being moved about on or above the surface of the workpiece. The base is of inverted hollow box shape and the means 2 consists of a rod detachably secured to the base. A bracket 4 is formed with collars 3 slidable on the rod and supports the electric drill 8. A screw 6 engages a groove 5 in the rod to prevent turning of the bracket and can be used to clamp the bracket to the rod. A spring 7 supports the weight of the bracket. The base has a recess 10 through which a tool such as a drill, carried by the electric-drill may pass, and channels 13, 14 of keyhole cross-section into which a rod 16 may be fitted and secured by a clamping screw 17. The rod carries a guide 18 for engaging the edge of the workpiece 19. A bridge plate 20 may be secured to the base across the recess 10 and is formed with a V-shaped recess 21 which cooperates with the flat sides of the channel 14 to support the equipment on the corner of a workpiece (Fig. 3) or on a circular rod for drilling a hole therein. Indicator markings 22, 23 are provided to assist location of the tool relative to the workpiece. The tool may be used for drilling, routing or grooving operations. A rod 22, Fig. 4, may be secured in the channel 14 and adjustably carries a collar 23 bearing a pin 25 which engages the workpiece and about which the equipment can be swung to move the tool in a circular path. The equipment may be used for sawing, the base 1, Fig. 5, being adjustably secured between a pair of side plates 28 upstanding from a baseplate 22 by a pair of screws 33 which extend through slots 29 in the plates into blocks secured in the channel 13 of the base 1 by screws. A housing is secured in channel 14 of the base 1 and rotatably supports a shaft which, at one end, carries a circular saw 26 and, at the other end, is connected by a flexible coupling or bevel gearing to a shaft 41 adapted to be rotated by the electric drill 8. The base 1 is adjustable both vertically and angularly about the axis of the screw 33 in the side-plates, and a guide member 55 for engaging the edge of a workpiece is adjustably secured to the base-plate 27. In another embodiment, the electric drill 8, Fig. 12, is connected by a shaft in a housing 39 clamped in channel 14 to a circular saw 26, and the base 1 is guided over the surface 19 of the workpiece by a guide member 55 adjustably secured to the base.
