Abstract
1,193,190. Valves. MAENAKA VALVE WORKS CO. Ltd. 7 June, 1967 [8 June, 1966; 13 June, 1966; 29 Aug., 1966], No. 26261/67. Heading F2V. The closure member 36 of a butterfly valve 35 is rotatable between its open and closed positions by means of a rod 37, the rod being coupled to an actuator 27 having two opposed non- linear cam grooves engageable by a pin 28 extending from one end of, and transversely to, an acutator stem 25 which is movable vertically, but non-rotatably. The stem movement is effected by the application of fluid pressure to one of two ports 22 disposed one at each end of a casing 21 within which a piston 24, secured to the other end of the stem 25, is movable, or, alternatively, by a screw and handle mechanism, (Fig. 6, not shown). Vertical movement of the piston 24, and hence stem 25 results in rotational movement of the actuator 27 and consequential opening or closing of the valve. The rod 37 is made of precipitation hardened stainless steel.
