Abstract

1,191,129. Cable Joints and terminations. FELTEN & GUILLEAUME CARLSWERKE A.G. 24 Nov., 1967 [23 March, 1967], No. 53510/67. Heading H2E. The conductors 2 of two high-voltage cables 1 with polyethylene insulation 3 are connected by a metal bush 8 wound with a conducting layer 9 of carbon-filled plastics tape over which is wound a polyethylene tape 10 impregnated with silicone rubber which is hardened in the wrapping and which has similar electrical and thermal properties to the tape and prevents the formation of cavities in the wrapping. The cables 1 also comprise conducting, carbonfilled, plastics layers 5 and 6, metal screws 7 and sheaths 4, the joint comprising a layer 11 and a screen 12 to correspond with cable layers 6 and 7 respectively. The end seal of a cable may be similarly constructed.
