Abstract

1,190,517. Brushgear for electric machines. SIEMENS A.G. 11 Nov., 1968 [15 Nov., 1967], No. 53410/68. Heading H2A. In an electric machine brush assembly the brush 1 together with an associated conductor 2 engage a recess 3 of shape corresponding to the brush in a resilient plastics brush holder 4 whereby the brush and conductor are clamped into mutual lateral contact. Applicable to a generator or a F.H.P. motor, a spring 6 urges the holder to pivot about a pin 5 to engage the brush 1, e.g. of carbon or copper gauze with a commutator 7, and in the embodiment shown the holder mounts an interference suppressor choke 8 whose winding end either forms the conductor 2 or is similarly clamped to the brush.
