An hydraulic device comprising a metal surface in reciprocating sliding contact with rubber oil-sealing means is lubricated by application of a mineral oil containing lecithin, preferably soyabean lecithin in amount 0À5-2% by wt. of the mineral oil. Examples show conventional brake and damper assemblies using as the hydraulic oil a mineral oil containing lecithin.
