Abstract

1,186,158. Laminated fabrics of fibrillar material. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 18 Jan., 1967 [1 Feb., 1966], No. 33165/69. Divided out of 1,170,052. Heading B5N. [Also in Division D1] A composite article comprises a textile fabric, at least some of the threads or yarns of which are of fibrillar thermoplastics material, bonded to an elastomeric or resinous composition. The fibrillar material is preferably obtained from an oriented film of thermoplastics material and may be in twisted form. The fabric preferably comprises compressed cords each made by slitting a film into two strands and twisting the strands together. Alternatively, the fabric may comprise yarns each made by coiling a single film of the thermoplastic material with a helical path and stretching the coiled film. The fabric may be woven or non-woven and is used as reinforcement in hose pipes, printer's blankets, mechanical belting, lining for moulded footwear or tyres.
