Abstract

1,184,023. Substituted tetrahydro-1,4-oxazines. CENTRE EUROPEEN DE RECHERCHES MAUVERNAY. 13 March, 1968 [26 June, 1967], No. 12191/68. Heading C2C. The invention comprises novel 2,4- or 2,2,4- substituted tetrahydro - 1,4 - oxazines as described in Tables II and III (not shown) of the Specification, and a process for the production of tetrahydro-1,4-oxazines of the formula where R is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical, which may contain halogen substituents, R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical having up to 6 carbon atoms, and R 1 is hydrogen or an alkenyl radical or a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl radical optionally substituted by a hydroxy radical, alkoxy radical or aryl radical, which may itself be substituted, or a linear or branched alkyl radical substituted by a heterocyclic radical, comprising: (1) adding tertiary butyl hypobromite at a temperature below 0‹ C. to a mixture of glycol chlorohydrin and an olefin of the formula in which R and R<SP>1</SP> are as defined above, to form an intermediate compound of the formula and (2) condensing 1 mole of the said intermediate compound with 3 moles of a primary amine of the formula R 1 -NH 2 in which R 1 is as defined above. Intermediates of the formula where R is phenyl, p-chlorophenyl, methyl or p-fluorobenzyl when R<SP>1</SP> is H, and R is methyl when R<SP>1</SP> is methyl are prepared as in (1) above.
