Abstract

1,181,193. Rotary positive-displacement pumps. F. SEE BERGER [trading as SEE BERGER MASCHINENUND GER€TEBAU K.G.] April 18, 1968 [April 19, 1967; Aug.12, 1967], No.18367/68. Heading F1F. In a rotary positive-displacement pump of the internally-meshing screw-type, a stator 1 made of an elastomeric material e. g. rubber or plastics material, is bonded to a tubular body 2 and furnished with an annular flange, or collar, 3 at either end that is clamped against said body by a tubular endmember 7 or 8, the stator being engaged by a worm rotor 10 and having a helical innermost surface. The body may be recessed, as shown in Fig.1, to accommodate the flanges 3. Alternatively, each flange abuts the respective end of the body 2, the corresponding end-member being shaped to accommodate the flange accordingly, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), and the exterior surface of the body 2 being shaped to form an annular abutment (12) at either end that obviates excessive compression of the flanges by the end members. The radially-innermost surface of the body 2 may be rendered helical so as to permit a constant radial thickness for the wall of the stator, Fig. 5 (not shown) and Fig. 6, the wall of the body 2 being optionally hollow to facilitate circulation of a cooling fluid therethrough.
