Abstract
1,180,365. Controlling vehicles. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 27 June, 1968 [28 June, 1967], No. 30654/68. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F1] A device for terminating the fuel supply in a spark-ignition I.C. engine of an automobile when the engine is being driven by the road wheels, comprises a solenoid 3, three switches 7, 8, 9 and a fuel quantity regulating member, e.g. the control rod 2 of a fuel injection pump 1 or a valve downstream of the float chamber of a carburetter. When all three switches are actuated, the solenoid is energized and thereby moves the control rod 2 against the action of a mixture regulator (not shown) to terminate the fuel supply to the engine. The switch 7 closes when a butterfly valve 10 in the air induction pipe 11 moves into its idling position, the switch 8 closes when any gear in the gear-box is engaged, and the switch 9 closes when the clutch is engaged. The device may instead operate with a holding current which is interrupted when all three switches are opened.
