Abstract
1,176,031. Centrifugal separators. C. NIHOT, E. R. NIHOT and P. A. H. SAUERESSIG. 20 Jan., 1967 [28 Jan., 1966], No. 3161/67. Heading B2P. A centrifugal pump for sucking off, with the aid of air as transport medium, waste products from around wood working machines in a work room in order to separate these products from the transporting air has a spiralshaped, widening delivery channel 12 which extends for 450‹ around the spindle 1 of the pump rotor 6 and which is divided at its discharge-end by means of a separating wall 19 so as to provide an outlet 16a for the coarse impurities and a small proportion of air and an outlet 16b for the fine impurities and a large proportion of air, the outlet 16a being connected to a cyclone separator which discharges the small portion of air to the atmosphere and the outlet 16e being connected to a dust filter from which the large portion of air is returned as clean air to the work room. The separating wall 19 is fixed to a bridging member 18 and has an extension 21 pivotable at 22 and adjustable from the outside with the aid of a grip (not shown) and fixing means comprising an arcuate plate 23 so as to allow between 10 and 25% of the air to pass through the outlet 16a. The waste products and the air are sucked by means of a number of branch pipes which lead to a main feed pipe connected centrally to the rotor chamber of the pump. The delivery channel 12 is rectangular in cross-section, the outer wall terminating into a tangential end portion 12a.
