Abstract
1,175,385. Crease-proofing compositions. SUN CHEMICAL CORP. 23 March, 1967 [24 March, 1966; 15 March, 1967], No. 13676/67. Heading C3R. [Also in Division D1] A composition suitable for treating cellulosic fabrics comprises an aqueous solution containing a triazin-4-one having the formula in which n is 1 or 2, R is a hydrogen atom or alkyl group containing 1-3 carbon atoms and may represent different entities in the two halves of the molecule when n is 2 and Z is an alkyl, substituted alkyl, cycloaliphatic or aralkyl radical containing 1-10 carbon atoms when n is 1, and an alkylene radical containing 1-4 carbon atoms when n is 2, together with sufficient mineral acid, e.g. hydrochloric, sulphuric or phosphoric acid, to give a pH of 2-3À5. The mineral acid may be used in admixture with an organic acid, e.g. oxalic, citric or acetic acid. Compounds in which n is 1, both R's are hydrogen and Z is methyl, ethyl, chloroethyl or hydroxyethyl are preferred. The treating solution may also contain N,N<SP>1</SP> - dimethylol - 1,3 - propylene urea or a polyethylene softener.
