Abstract

1,175,197. Multiple fuel burners. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. 22 Dec., 1966 [24 Dec., 1965], No. 57396/66. Heading F4T. A multiple fuel burner comprises a tube 1 supplied with liquid or pulverized fuel, an encircling sleeve 8 supplied with combustion air, and an outer encircling casing 14 supplied with gaseous fuel, the discharge ends of the sleeve and casing 14 tapering inwardly and the end of the casing 14 being closed by a refractory wall 16 such that the gaseous fuel is discharged through circumferential slots 13 provided on the sleeve 8. An impeller arranged at the discharge end of tube 1 is axially movable between positions 4 and 4A. The air is supplied through a windbox 7 provided with dampers 9 controlled from outside the burner.
