A mixer comprises a vessel with an inverted conical lower part 1 and a rotatable screw stirrer 3 mounted on an arm 8 which rotates about an axis B and is mounted on another arm 6 rotatable about the axis of the container; the axis B passes through the point of intersection of the container axis A and the axis of the stirrer. The stirrer and axis may be independently rotated by variable speed pole-charging motors 4, 7, 10.
