Abstract

1,168,949. Spinneret plate. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 29 March, 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 15234/68. Heading B5B. A spinneret plate having a plurality of holes 16 extending through terminal capillary lengths 20 to orifices 21 in the discharge face 14, comprises raised portions 22 on said face 14 surrounding at least 90% of the orifices 21, each raised portion 22 having a thickness of less than 0À0002 inch and at least 0À00001 inch. The raised portions have planar outer surfaces which may be polished. The orifices and the capillary lengths 20 may be in the form of angularly disposed interconnected slots wherein the raised portions have widths approximately equal to slot widths, or the orifices may be round with the capillary lengths cylindrical in which the raised portions have widths approximately equal to the diameter of the orifices.
