Abstract

1,165,857. Tape measures. N. BSESO. May 22, 1968, No.24375/68. Heading G1M. A linear measuring instrument comprises a telescopic housing T containing a measuring tape C which is uncoiled when the portions S, L of the casing are separated. The free end of the tape is secured to the innermost tube of the telescopic housing and a window D is provided for viewing the tape. The instrument indicates in the window D, the distance apart of jaws J hinged to each portion of the casing or the distance apart of the flat ends of the casing.
