Abstract

1,163,780. Aerating and agitating liquids. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. 9 Dec., 1966 [16 Dec., 1965], No. 55256/66. Heading B1C. [Also in Division C1] Water is drawn from clarifying basin 1 by suction pump 6 and is mixed with air in the chamber 9 which is designed to produce a vortex. The aerated liquid is discharged by pipes 11 (see Fig. 2) and due to the vortical effect in aeration and the rotary movement of the discharge at pipes 11 the aeration takes place in conjunction with the circulation just before discharge of purified water into the settling basin 2. The air inlet for the vortex chamber 9 may be a venturi (13), see Fig. 5 (not shown).
