A method for the adhesive bonding of a siloxane rubber vulcanizate to a substrate comprises using as adhesive a polysilazane having the formula [R 4-n Si(NY)n/ 2 ]x, where one R group is vinyl and the other R group, if present, is vinyl or methyl, Y is hydrogen or R 4-n Si, n is 2 or 3 and x is an integer greater than one. Specified substrates are siloxane rubber vulcanizates and metals. In a preferred embodiment, a substituted polysilazane or a solution thereof in toluene is applied to the cleaned and degreased surface of a metal, e.g. Duralumin (Registered Trade Mark), a degreased siloxane rubber vulcanizate placed on the coated surface and pressure applied for from 2 to 48 hours at a temperature of 10‹ to 40‹ C.
