Abstract

1,162,156. Electrophotographic material. GAF CORP. 2 Sept., 1966 [10 Sept., 1965], No. 39424/66. Heading H1K. [Also in Division G2] A recording medium, especially for use in deformation imaging, comprises a non-conductive base, e.g. of paper, film or textile, a dielectric layer for receiving an electrostatic charge, and a conductive resinous layer between the base and dielectric layer. The resinous layer comprises a polymer of a vinyl benzene quaternary ammonium compound having a conductivity of at least 10<SP>-8</SP> mho/square, at a relative humidity of 20%. Suitable non-conductive base materials are stated to be glass, polyethylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, cellulose acetate, polystyrene, and cellulose acetate butyrate. It is also stated that the conductive layer has application to recording media used in other electrophotographic processes such as xerography.
