Abstract

1,159,999. Fusible cut-outs. A. F. BULGIN & CO. Ltd. 28 Nov., 1967 [14 Dec., 1966], No. 56028/66. Heading H2G. The generally tubular plastic body 1, 2 of a cartridge fuse holder has at one end a contact 4 bearing against one cap of the fuse, and at the other end a removable member 18 which holds the fuse by the other cap in a resilient metallic grip 30 and which has an axial passage 26, wide enough to provide access for a probe to a second contact 23 on the grip but small enough to prevent accidental touching of this contact. The first contact 4 is the end of a metal strip 7, which projects outside the holder to form a first terminal 9. The grip is preferably a U-shaped strip, the outwardly-bent ends 24 of which are held in electrical contact with an annular disc 12 connected to a second terminal (13, Fig. 1, not shown). Axial passages for the bent ends 24 are provided in the inner wall of body part 2 and disc 12 so that a bayonet-type connection is formed between the body and member 18. The holder is designed for panel mounting, and member 18 may be released by turning it through 90 degrees, using a coin inserted in a slot (27) on its face, thereby facilitating quick fuse replacement.
