Abstract

1,156,685. Cutting by fusion. MESSER GRIESHEIM G.m.b.H. 26 Sept., 1966 [24 Sept., 1965], No. 42847/66. Heading B3V. A cross-carriage type flame-cutting machine has a rail guide 7 for the upper carriage 8, comprising ball segment guides (44), Fig. 4 (not shown), secured to the upper carriage and engaging in opposed side tracks (77), (78), Fig. 3 (not shown), in the rail 76, one section (131) of the rail head being detachable to facilitate removal of the upper carriage. The machine has a bottom carriage 1 running along rails 5 and supporting the guide rail 7 along which run four upper carriages 8-11, Fig. 1 (not shown), each carrying a cutting torch 12-15. The workpiece 17 is supported on a work-table 16. The rail guide is disposed in a trough 74 filled with liquid and covered by a screen 112. Removable rail section (131) may be the upper part of the rail head, Fig. 3 (not shown), or a section of the complete rail head, Fig. 5 (not shown). The ball segments, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprise closed ball loops (44) in U-shaped covers (46).
