Abstract
1,155,118. Protective arrangements. DREAMLAND ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES Ltd. 29 Nov., 1967 [10 Oct., 1966], No. 45122/66. Heading H2K. In a protective arrangement for an electrically heated blanket or pad having a dual coaxial heating element 1, a fuse 5 and a halfwave rectifier 6 are connected in series with at least one of the heating conductors 2, 3, so that a fault between the heating conductors 2, 3, short circuits the rectifier 6 and the resulting increase in the r.m.s. current through the fuse 5 ensures the blowing of the fuse. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the connections of the ends of the conductor 3 are reversed, in Fig. 3 (not shown) the conductor 3 is in a closed loop connected to the lower terminal 4 and in Fig. 4 (not shown) the rectifier is a silicon controlled rectifier with a circuit to fire it on alternate half cycles.
