Abstract

1,152,463. Plastics sacks. BRITISH VISQUEEN Ltd. 15 Aug., 1966 [6 Sept., 1965(2)], Nos. 37977/65 and 37978/65. Heading B8K. A gusseted plastics sack having a block ended shape when filled and closed by a straight seam 4 across its mouth, has a weld 3 of rounded configuration between the gusset and the sack wall facing it in at least one of the pleats 1, 2 at each side of the sack mouth in the portion A, B, C, which lies flat against the block end when the sack is closed. The presence of the weld 3 locates the gusset folds in the sack mouth thereby facilitating the closing operation. The welds 3 may be provided in all four pleats or in adjacent or diagonally opposite pleats, and may be spot welds, arc or semicircularly shaped. An air vent perforation 5 may act as a self-closing valve.
