Abstract
1,150,381. Electro-photography. XEROX CORP. May 2, 1966 [May 3, 1965; July 1, 1965], No. 19316/66. Heading G2H. [Also in Division H1] Photographic images are formed by imagewise exposing a cohesively weak, electrically photosensitive layer sandwiched between two members across which an electric field is applied and then separating the two members under the electric field so that the unexposed areas of the layer adhere to one member and the exposed areas adhere to the other member. The members are preferably either both regenerated cellulose or one is polyethylene terephthalate and the other NESA glass. The electrically photo-sensitive layer preferably comprises a photo-conductive polymer or a dispersion or solid solution of a photo-conductor in a polymeric or wax binder; the layer may be coloured, if necessary rendered cohesively weak by a liquid, e.g. a solvent, and coated on one of the members. Multi-colour images are formed by superimposing members bearing respectively magenta, yellow and cyan images formed by the above process.
