A switch or other electrical equipment mounting box made of plastics material, e.g. PVC, is provided with two or more metal straps 3 located in recesses 10 in the sides of the box and bent over at one end to form lateral lugs 4 provided with holes 5, Fig. 3 (not shown), which together with holes 6 in the base 2 of the box, enable the box to be secured to a ceiling or other support, and the other ends 7 of the straps are bent over and provided with threaded holes 9 by means of which electrical apparatus is mounted in the box. In modifications, the straps are joined by a web 11, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), across the base of the box, or the straps may be mounted inside the box, Fig. 6 (not shown), and have the ends bent over in opposite directions and provided with holes. Alternatively the straps may be held in position by small lugs thereon snapping into holes in the box walls, Fig. 8 (not shown) or the straps may be mounted outside the box and be held in position by one end passing through a hole in the wall and held therein by a barb 20, Fig. 9 (not shown), or a rivet 32, Fig. 10 (not shown), the other end either being cranked and held in a hole at the junction of the wall and base, Fig. 9 (not shown), or else passing through a hole and engaging a flange, Fig. 10 (not shown). In another modification, Figs. 11, 12, 13 (not shown) the straps are located in shallow recesses in the box wall, one end being bent over and engaging the base, the other end passing through a hole near the edge of the wall remote from the base and formed with a threaded hole for supporting apparatus.
