Abstract

1,148,593. Reciprocating pumps and motors. A. W. VAUDT. April 18, 1966, No. 16940/66. Heading F1A. A hydraulic motor comprises a valve block 12 having piston valves 38, 40 controlling flow to and from cylinders disposed on opposite sides of the block, the pistons 64, 66 being connected to a shaft 62 passing through the block. Springs 72 on the shaft contact bridge pieces 44, 45 connecting the valves 38, 40 to actuate them at the end of each stroke. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 the pistons reciprocate columns of liquid which oscillate pump diaphragms 88. The pump/motor assembly is held together by bolts connecting the opposite pump chamber heads 80. In modified embodiments Figs. 9, 12 (not shown) further pistons are connected to the shaft 62 outside the pistons 64, 66 and the outer ends of the cylinders form pump chambers. The spaces between the adjacent pistons are connected to atmosphere.
