Abstract

1,145,863. Locks. S. W. BEGTSSON. 22 Sept., 1966, No. 42345/66. Heading E2A. An escutcheon lock comprises a rotatable lock handle 2 which can be locked against rotation by a bolt 19 secured to a guide member 14 slidably mounted in a groove 8 in the escutcheon perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the handle, the guide member being provided with one or more resilient arms 16<SP>1</SP> which releasably engage in recesses 10<SP>1</SP>, 10<SP>3</SP> in the longitudinal side or sides of the groove and releasably hold the bolt in locking or unlocking position. The guide member 14 has a knob 14<SP>1</SP> extending through an opening in the escutcheon for manual operation. A cover plate 11 has a dished portion 22 preventing movement of the bolt in the direction of the axle 3. The escutcheon and guide member may be made from plastics and the bolt from metal. The end 19 of the bolt engages in one or other of recesses 20 in a plate 6 on the handle axle 3 to obtain the handle in locking or unlocking position. The bolt may be spring urged to locking position.
