Abstract

1,039,418. Retractive switches; switches held set and freed mechanically. VITRAMON Inc. July 2, 1964 [Aug. 21, 1963], No. 27447/64. Heading H2B. An electric switch comprises a fixed contact 17, a movable contact 18 biased towards the fixed contact but held out of engagement therewith by a restraining member 19 which is biased away from the fixed contact, an operating plunger 21, and an actuating member 28 which is biased away from the plunger 21 by a spring 31. When actuating member 28 is pushed inwardly against spring 31 it engages plunger 21 which in turn disengages restraining member 19 from movable contact 18 so that contacts 17 and 18 close. A member 32 limits inward movement of actuating member 28 and plunger 21 inwardly so that, in the position where the contacts 17 and 18 engage, the restraining means 19 is held out of engagement with both contacts. The housing of the switch is screwthreaded to facilitate mounting.
