Abstract
1,038,307. Litters. JARNHS ELEKTRISKA A.B. Nov. 25, 1964 [Nov. 27,1963; April 22, 1964, No. 47936/64. Heading A5X. To facilitate the movement of a patient from an auxiliary stretcher 1, 2, 3 to a larger main stretcher, the auxiliary stretcher can be fitted within the frame 8, 9 of the larger stretcher and the body-supporting sheet 14 of the larger stretcher is detachable. The patient is moved e.g., in an ambulance, on the supporting sheet 14 placed over the auxiliary stretcher and when it is desired to move the patient to the main stretcher e.g., in the hospital, the auxiliary stretcher is placed over the main frame 8, 9, the sheet 14 is secured to this frame, and the patient is moved on the main stretcher optionally with the auxiliary stretcher attached. The stretchers have telescopic handles and the auxiliary stretcher has a canvas bodysupporting sheet 5 and an adjustable head rest. As shown, the sheet 14 is held to the main frame 8, 9 by interfitting hooks and eyelets, or in an embodiment, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), the edges of the sheet are held by spring clamps. The longitudinal members 8, 9 of the main frame may be rotatable relative to the associated cross-members 10 and provided with ratchet devices to allow the sheet 14 to be rolled on to the members. The sheet 14 may comprise a pad of foamed plastic between layers of canvas.
