Abstract
1,027,123. Lids for domestic vessels. MIDLAND METAL SPINNING CO. Ltd. March 16, 1965 [March 25, 1964], No. 12664/64. Heading A4A. A detachable lid 12 is prevented from falling off when a container 10, such as a jug, teapot or saucepan, is tilted for pouring, by interlocking of a surface 32 at the end of a plastic handle 13, riveted to the lid, with a surface 25, beneath a nose 24 on a plastic handle 11, which is riveted to the container body. The surfaces are spaced when the container is upright and the lid is placed in the mouth of the container, in position for interlocking, either directly or by placement therein followed by rotation. A flange 17 forms a pouring spout and an aperture or open-ended pouring slot is punched in the skirt of the lid opposite one or each end of the handle 13. In modifications the interlocking surfaces are curved in more than one plane or are dissimilar, or the handle is assymetrically placed on the lid and has only one locking position.
