Abstract

1,026,259. Wrapping apparatus; packages. H. HELFERT. March 18, 1965 [March 20, 1964], No. 11514/65. Heading B8C. A tubular foil of wrapping material 4 (Fig. 1, not shown) is passed between an upwardly directed tubular guide 1 and an inner floating member 5 which also supports the article to be packaged. In the embodiment described, the floating member 5 has rollers 10 and 11 which position the floating member in the guide 1 and allow the wrapper to be drawn between the two. An article, e.g. a potted plant 15, is positioned on the supporting plate 6 and the tubular foil is drawn upwardly by hand about the article. The top of the tubular foil is then closed by means of clips, staples or by welding, and the plant and wrapper are lifted off the plate 6 and the bottom of the wrapper is closed by means 13 and severed by blades 12. The foil may be made of transparent plastics material or paper.
