Abstract
The invention comprises 2-phenylcyclopropylguanidine, and pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof. The compound may be prepared from 2-phenylcyclopropylamine by (a) cyanamide or dicyandiamide, or (b) reaction of the amine with an S-alkyl-isothiouronium acid addition salt, or (c) reaction of the amine with an acid addition salt of 1-amidino-3,5-dimethylpyrazole. Pharmaceutical compositions having anti-hypertensive activity, for oral or parenteral administration, comprise a compound of the invention together with a pharmaceutical carrier. The compositions may be in the form of tablets, capsules, elixirs, suspensions, and solutions.
