1,023,474. Knitting machines. LAWSON, ENGINEERING CO. Nov. 17, 1962 [Nov. 17, 1961], No. 52994/64. Divided out of 1, 023, 473. Heading D1C. [Also in Division F2]. A positive yarn feeding device comprises a rotatable shaft 22 Fig. 2 (not shown) carrying, between two spaced discs 38a, 38b, whose opposing faces have spiral grooves 39a, 39b, two spool heads with radial slots 25a, 25b through which pass pins 32a, 32b which engage grooves 39a, 39b, these pins being so arranged on slides 31a, 31b on the ends of radially movable elongated elements 30 that the arcuate outer faces of these elements are always all at the same radial distance from the axis of the shaft, there being, spaced from these elements, a roller, Fig. 1 (not shown) and the yarn being spiralled round the elements and the roller 51. Rotation of heads 21a, 21b, discs 38a, 38b remaining stationary, adjusts the distance of the surfaces of elements 30 from the shaft axis, the assembly being loosened for adjustment by a knob 43 carried on a cotter pin 35 on the end of shaft 22. Roller 51 may be grooved or may be set at an angle to the axis of shaft 22.
