Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A synthetic rubber washer A for compression in an electric cable gland is formed with concentric grooves B in one or both faces, the thickness of material left at the base of each groove being such that it can readily be cut through with, for example, a penknife for the purpose of adjusting the size of the washer to fit the particular size of the cable or gland member to which it is to be applied. As shown, concentric grooves on one face of a washer made of polychloroprene alternate with concentric grooves on the other. Radial grooves, either straight or sinuous, may also be provided on one or both faces for the purpose of accommodating the circumferentially-displaced material during compression in the gland.
