Abstract
1,021,239. Furniture frames. K. SCHOCK. Sept. 18, 1964 [Dec. 14, 1963 (2); Jan. 31, 1964], No. 38207/64. Headings A4B and A4H. A plastic box-like furniture frame for drawers, trays and the like comprises at least one unitary horizontal extrudedplastic section having a longitudinallyextending cavity of generally rectangular cross-section, and either integral flanges 8, 12, Fig. 1 a channel recess 9, or extruded plastic T-shaped element 61, Fig. 16 (not shown) to support the edge portion of another frame section 7 or 40 forming e.g. the bottom member of a drawer. The section forming the side of a drawer or tray may have a channel 3 forming a guide groove whereby the frame may be slidably supported on a cabinet guide rail 4. Separate sections may be interconnected at right angles by mitering and gluing the ends or, Fig. 4, (not shown) by inserting plugs 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, 17, 17<SP>1</SP> of connecting elements 15 into the ends of adjoining sections. Alternatively several sections may be formed from a single extruded plastic body, Fig. 11, (not shown) having longitudinally-spaced notches 68 about which the body is bent. The corner joints may be strengthened with dovetail connecting pieces 66 or the sections may be filled with wood, hardboard or foamed material and glued together or connected by right-angle pins glued to the filler material. A handle may be mounted in the groove 3 on the front section 1 of the drawer.
