Abstract

1,019,521. Stud and socket fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Jan. 1, 1965 [Jan. 2, 1964], No. 218/64. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A one piece fastener 10 of synthetic plastics for securing together two spaced, apertured panels 24, 25 comprises a shank 12 and a head 16 divided diametrically into two movable head portions joined by a web 14 and adapted to receive a screw 23. The shank 12 comprises two externally shouldered arms 19 for insertion in an aperture 26 in the panel 24, the arms 19 being joined by a web 22 which is on the same side of the fasteners as the web 14. The upper tubular part of the head forms a spacing portion 15 between the two panels, the lower part of the head having internal facing surfaces 16 formed with screw receiving grooves 18 which continue into the adjacent arm 19 but stop short adjacent the shoulder 20. The grooves 18 may be threaded or left unthreaded for use with a self-tapping screw. In a modification, Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), instead of providing a web 22 the two arms are extended and joined by a nose. In another modification, Figs. 8-11 (not shown), the head is in the form of an annular flange, the shank being similar to the shank 12 of the fastener 10.
